Since 1984, Eliant has been independently evaluating the performance of homebuilders across the U.S., Canada, and the Middle East:

  • We ask recent homebuyers to evaluate their builder's purchase process.
  • Then, we ask homeowners to evaluate their builder's quality and service (1) after the first 5-months in the home, and (2) again at the end of the first year.

Purchase Experience Testimonials from Real Homebuyers

I am writing to express my deep dissatisfaction with the purchase experience and subsequent issues I have encountered with my home from Century Communities. The excitement and joy that my family and I anticipated on the day of closing were completely shattered due to an unexpected and unacceptable issue with the vents installed on top of each bedroom door in our home. We were blindsided by the presence of these vents, which were not disclosed to us at any point during the purchase process. They were not present in any of the model homes or the numerous homes in the community that we visited (verified by [name removed] and [name removed]), nor were they mentioned during the pre-dry wall orientation (we have video evidence to support this). Discovering these vents on the closing day was incredibly frustrating and disappointing, turning what should have been one of the happiest days of our lives into a stressful and upsetting experience. These vents have severely impacted our quality of life in our new home. They provide no privacy in the bedrooms, and they fail to block light or noise, making it difficult for us to sleep and find peace in our own home. Since moving in on December 15th, we have been struggling to adapt to these conditions. Our son's sleep is constantly disrupted, and we find ourselves having to whisper and tiptoe around the house to avoid waking him. This is not the experience we expected from our $1.25 million home, built by one of the top 10 builders in the US. Despite my repeated attempts to address this issue with Century Communities, including contacting various representatives and requesting that the vents be removed and the walls restored to their original state as per our PCO, no action has been taken. We have been met with indifference and a lack of urgency, leaving us feeling frustrated and ignored. My wife and I worked hard for many years to buy this home, and now Century Communities has made us feel that all our hard work has been wasted. They ruined what should have been a happy moment for us, something we will never forgive them for. I am not the type of person who wants to go on every social media platform and start saying negative things about Century Communities. There were good people we worked with during this process, such as [name removed], who has been great. However, the end result was horrible, which undermines the efforts of the dedicated individuals involved. The way things were handled makes us feel like we were tricked, and Century Communities did not deliver what we agreed upon when we put in the offer. If we had been informed about these vents prior to closing, we would have never considered purchasing this home. This lack of transparency and the poor response to our concerns have left us deeply dissatisfied and regretting our decision to buy a home from Century Communities. We urge you to take immediate action to rectify this issue and restore our faith in your company.

Clarification about inspection report weren’t informed formally via email by the construction team. Few appliances as part of the contract were delivered and installed after 3 weeks.

From initial order placement to final closing, everything went smoothly, including online ordering, digital contract signing, virtual open house, and remote document signing. What I really liked about the whole purchase experience was all the help received from [name removed] [name removed] and also my loan officer [name removed] from inspire home loans both parties were extremely helpful and continued to ask questions along the way and were always there every step of the way. Super pleased and grateful.

Liked: [name removed] and [name removed] were great to work with and patiently answered all the questions we had throughout the buying process. They were friendly and helped us unpack the process as it was our first time buying a home. Disliked: 1) Surprise element around learning about the side fence not being a part of our backyard a week before closing, 2) We had to be extra diligent in completing all the blue tape marks that were flagged during pre-closing inspection.

In my 25+ years as a consumer (across all product types), I've never had such a positive buying experience as my purchase of a home in Alpine Estates. [name removed] (the site sales manager who I worked closest with) provided elite attention, care and consideration from the initial greeting handshake all the way through the close of sale (and even post-close). This is the most significant purchase I may ever make, and the level of support and care that my family has consistently received from the Sales team ([name removed] and Anzhelika), the construction supervisors ([name removed] and [name removed]), and the warranty/walkthrough exceptional attention (with [name removed]) effectively eliminated 99% of the anxiety/stress from the process and resulted in the most confident buying decision I've ever made. The team Century Communities has managing the Alpine Estates location is nothing short of incredible.

My sales agent, [name removed], did not communicate in a timely manner or follow up when needed. She appears to have followed up behind the scenes but most of the time I was in the dark. When scheduling my meeting about "how to use my home" and somewhat of a "pre-move-in walk-through). There was a huge amount of pressure to do it and force me to take hours off of work. After much communication, it was resolved. At the meeting, the air-ducts were in working order and I liked their placement. After the meeting a vent was installed above the master bedroom door and all of my doors were shortened without my consent or even knowledge. When I arrived to pick up the keys, after sale, this had been changed. The next day someone was in my home testing the system. They did not have my permission to enter my home. I still do not have keys to my mailbox and cannot recieve mail at my house. I would say the process has been rocky, with a huge exception of [name removed] who was incredible as loan officer. He went above and beyond, exceeded expectations, was 100% available, and communicated thoroughly.

We didn't like the fact that when we changed homes we were denied a fence. I feel buyers were not treated equally. We don't feel the sales person explained fully the several details about the home. We did not find out until orientation for example the tile grout was not sealed, the bathroom paint was flat paint and should have been semi gloss for bathrooms. There were areas in the bathroom that should have been caulked around the tub and shower that was left for the homeowners. We were under the impression the home would be move in ready.

Too much communication with the century agent. I would have preferred to get all info from my realtor. Too many people were giving me guidance
