Everyone communicated very well with us throughout the entire process

We like everyone we have worked with. Did NOT like the grade in the back yard. With a flat yard, I didn't expect all to drain through my yard. I have lost around 20 trees. I have added a drain, raised my trees and have lost another 8 trees.

I feel like our concerns were just ignored towards the end of process. A lot of things felt like they were rushed at the end and ended up just being sloppy work. For example our carpet was cut short on the width of our stairs and now there is a gap between the wall and the end of the carpet. Or our handrail down the stairs almost came out of the wall completely on our walk through. Just poor quality work which makes concerned about other areas of the house.

The salesman, construction manager all walked me through and answered all questions professionally and thoroughly. The quality of the building materials, structure etc. were excellent. The finishing touches and design choices were very nice. My only issue was that the grader buried gravel and a few boards in my yard which I only discovered when I was landscaping.

I was generally very satisfied with the majority of the buying and building process with Consort Homes. However, there was one significant miscommunication regarding our walk-out property. We were not informed that there would be no access from the main floor to the outside, which is a major functional issue for the home. Given the rising costs of decks, this is an important detail that should be clearly communicated during the process. Not having access from the back door of the main floor is a major hindrance to the home's functionality, and it’s now an out-of-pocket expense that could have been included in the mortgage.

Purchase experience went well, and [name removed] was very helpful. Consort was not flexible on simple changes we suggested and offered to pay for.

The sales team was excellent, build process was on time and good communication throughout, the delivered product was definitely far from excellent. There was no attention to details, missing doors, door handles, sloppy siding work, out of square kitchen island, no access to attic, out of square deck skirting and more. We are still working with the project foreman correcting the numerous items.

Did not like/ could improve- 1. A better design consultant who has thorough knowledge of the design center and can provide correct guidance. 2. More choices, showers enclosures/lights/ cabinet colors/backsplash/kitchen sink - Huge issue for us was the flooring choices, and limited options available in the design center. Lack of a bigger display/design center is an issue. Another big issue we faced was brick choice with mortar color, it would be helpful to have samples with the mortar in for viewing/deciding. 3. More options to make custom choices with regards to interiors. I would have been happier if there was a scope to add a walk in pantry and a small prayer area in the Braxton that we currently built. 4. Disappointed with the kitchen cabinet quality. What we liked- 1. The floor plan of [name removed] especially with the 2nd bedroom on the main level. 2.[name removed], [name removed], [name removed] were very responsive and listened to our concerns. 3. Special shout out to [name removed] for going above and beyond! He has also been amazing with providing information/support, taking care of repairs/ requests immediately.

Our sales rep and field manager were receptive to our concerns. They did a good job of informing us of what was about to happen each week. I was not satisfied with the foundation work. We had leaks in the foundation before we moved in and we are continuing to get water in the basement.

Purchase experience fine. The carpet nails are visible at staircases. I never see that nails came out.

Homebuilder Customer Reviews

No one knows more about a homebuilder's quality and service than the builder's customers.

Since 1984, Eliant has been independently evaluating the performance of homebuilders across the U.S., Canada, and the Middle East:

  • We ask recent homebuyers to evaluate their builder's purchase process.
  • Then, we ask homeowners to evaluate their builder's quality and service (1) after the first 5-months in the home, and (2) again at the end of the first year.

In "Homebuilder Customer Reviews", we present the ratings and comments collected from new-home buyers at these three points in time.

Eliant verifies that only evaluations completed by actual customers are included in this "Homebuilder Customer Reviews" site. No other evaluations - whether collected by the builder or those appearing on other public sites - are included here. All customer comments are included verbatim, no editing is permitted.
